F-gas guide for the heat pump sector

BELGIUM: The European Heat Pump Association (EHPA) has published a guide to the new European F-gas regulation (2024/573) and its specific implications for the heat pump sector.
Heat pumps currently use a number of fluorinated refrigerants and the EU’s revised F-gas regulation will require a more rapid transition to lower GWP refrigerants, in line with the EU climate targets.
This 19-page paper provides a comprehensive overview of the revised rules, covering key topics such as bans, HFC phase-down, overlap with REPowerEU, leakage control, market placement, export/import procedures, customs regulations, training and certification requirements and review clauses, aiming to clarify the regulatory landscape and its impact on stakeholders.
