French retailers issue portable AC recalls

FRANCE: French retail stores Boulanger and Auchan have issued recalls for two portable air conditioners due to safety concerns.

France’s Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF ) warns of a risk of fire due to “poor assembly of certain products” in the production line.

The recalls involve Boulanger’s Essentiel B ECM9 air conditioners and Auchan’s Qilive Q.6771 portable units.

Boulanger’s units were also sold through its partner store, Connexion. All were sold between April 1, 2020 and June 26, 2023 and carry the bar code 3497674151546 and the item code 8007615.

The Qilive product carries the bar code 3245676776744 and article code 152150. Auchan stores have distributed this product, as well as partner stores and websites.

Consumers with the Qilive product have been instructed to unplug the device, stop using it, and take it back to the store for a full refund. Boulanger has suspended sales after learning of several incidents and is contacting customers.
