Goodman extends ac recall to Canada

Goodman recallCANADA: Air conditioning manufacturer Goodman has extended the recall it issued on certain of its products in the USA at the end of August to Canada.

On August 27, Goodman issued a recall in America on over 230,000 Amana, Century, Comfort-Aire, Goodman and York brand air conditioning units over concerns of a possible fault with its power cord which posed burn or fire hazards.

The Canadian recall issued at the end of October appears to involve the same 3.5kW Amana, Century and Comfort-Aire models with the same product fault and serial numbers from 0701009633 through 0804272329. Both the US and Canadian recalled products were sold from January 2007 to June 2008.

While five reports of power cords smoking or catching fire were reported in the USA, there were no reported incidents in Canada.

Approximately 3,800 products were sold in Canada.
