Hermann Renz retires after 50 years at Bitzer

GERMANY: Hermann Renz, Bitzer’s refrigeration guru, refrigerants expert, former board member and director of application engineering and product performance has retired after 50 years with the company.

Having joined the German compressor manufacturer in April 1971, Renz, 74, rose to director and board positions but has in recent years been working as Bitzer’s technical programmes manager.

During his long career, Renz was involved with countless associations, including ASERCOM, EPEE and Eurammon, and involved in European directives and regulations for refrigeration products and in standardisation committees at DIN, CEN and ASHRAE.

In addition to his work at Bitzer, he also worked for the management board of the Schaufler Foundation, created by Bitzer’s late CEO and owner Peter Schaufler to merge entrepreneurship with science, research and art.

He was also involved in the council of the Valerius-Füner-Stiftung, and its focus on refrigeration, air conditioning and environmental technology at Karlsruhe University.

After the death of Peter Schaufler in 2015, Hermann Renz was called for the supervisory board of Bitzer SE.
