Honeywell agrees HFO1233zd deal in India

USA/INDIA: Honeywell has agreed a deal with Indian chemical company Navin Fluorine International for the manufacture of the low GWP HFO refrigerant 1233zd.

Although primarily used for blowing agents, R1233zd, which Honeywell brands as Solstice zd, also has applications in low pressure centrifugal chillers.

Production of the refrigerant  is scheduled to commence by Q2 of this year at Navin Fluorine’s manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

“This partnership between Honeywell and Navin Fluorine reflects our confidence in the capabilities of Navin Fluorine to execute such complex, technical projects,” said Laura Reinhard, Honeywell’s VP-GM, Advanced Materials FIP.

Honeywell previously entered into a supply and technology license agreement with Navin Fluorine International in 2016 to produce the refrigerant R1234yf in India.

“As the country’s leading producer of specialty fluorochemicals, we are pleased to partner with Honeywell for production of Honeywell’s industry-first HFOs at our Dahej facility,” said Navin Fluorine International MD Radhesh Welling. “This will be a truly make-in-India product that will serve global customers. We will also work together to develop new applications for Indian market,” he added.
