Irish show off as venue is requisitioned

IRELAND: The IRAC Exhibition and Awards Dinner due to be held next Friday (May 6) in Dublin has been postponed after the venue was requisitioned by the Irish government.

The venue for the event, the Citywest Hotel, has been requisitioned by the Irish government to facilitate the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees, and all bookings for accommodation and events have been cancelled.

A statement on the Institute of Refrigeration Ireland (IRI) website states: “Despite our best efforts, with just one week’s notice it was not possible to locate a suitable alternative venue for a 35 exhibitor event and an evening dinner for 200 guests.

A suitable alternative venue is being sought, and it is hoped to be able to hold the event in September.

“While we are very disappointed at the postponement, of course the IRI supports all efforts to assist the victims of the invasion of Ukraine,” the organiser adds.
