Japanese domestic AC sales down 23.8%

JAPAN: Despite Japanese temperatures topping 38ºC in July, domestic shipments of room air conditioners were down 23.8% for the month at 1,106,000 units.

According to the figures released by the Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association (JEMA), this represented a second consecutive monthly fall.

Air conditioning sales value was JPY96.8 billion ($664m), down 22.8% on 2022.

Total domestic shipments from April to July reached 3.82 million units, down 11.4% on the same period last year. Value was 345.1 billion, an 8% decrease on 2022.
