Lotte Mart is first in Vietnam to adopt R448A

VIETNAM: Lotte Mart has become the first supermarket retailer in Vietnam to adopt R448A as a lower GWP refrigerant replacement for R404A.

The A1 refrigerant, marketed by Honeywell as Solstice N40, was first selected by the South Korean retailer for its domestic stores in 2018. Lotte Mart established its first Vietnamese branch in Ho Chi Minh City in 2008 and now has 13 branches in the country.

“As the first country in Southeast Asia to ratify the Kigali Amendment, Vietnam is seeking to adopt energy-efficient and environmentally preferable solutions to help reduce its carbon footprint,” said Nguyen Van Hieu, Lotte Mart Vietnam’s senior safety and environment manager. “By converting to Solstice N40 refrigerant, Lotte Mart Vietnam will now be compliant with regulations and reduce overall energy consumption. We aim to achieve energy savings of up to 8% by 2025,” he added.

A blend of HFOs and HFCs, R448A is a non-flammable A1 refrigerant with a GWP of 1387.
