MEHITS scores with HFO chillers

ITALY: One of the pioneers in the adoption of low GWP HFO refrigerants claims that 83 of its HFO chillers have been installed in Europe in the last two years.

Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems Spa (MEHITS) has been offering HFO 1234ze and HFO 1234yf in its Climaveneta and RC brand products since the end of 2015.

Since then 83 Climaveneta and RC HFO units with a total capacity of 52MW have been chosen for installations in Europe. Of these, 27% were selected in the free-cooling version and 73% with water source.

Those European countries with the largest number of HFO units installed are revealed as Italy, Spain, France, Germany, UK, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

One of the most important and innovative installation is Fortum’s district heating in Espoo, Finland where Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems recently supplied two Climaveneta heat pumps using R1234ze. Fortum, a Finnish energy company, will utilise waste heat from a data centre and supply the heat into a district heating network.
