MHI 1234yf chiller wins second award

JAPAN: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ R1234yf chiller has won its second major Japanese technology award.

The company’s JHT-Y/JHT-YI series of large capacity centrifugal chillers has today received the 52nd Technology Award from the Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE).

The JSRAE technology award is given for outstanding technical achievements that significantly contribute towards the development of refrigeration and air conditioning technology. The award applies to new technology in the fields of refrigeration and air conditioning, as well as food refrigeration, cryobiology and medicine.

Last year, the same model won the Minister of the Environment Award for Climate Action sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.

The constant-speed JHT-Y and inverter-equipped JHT-YI are new series for large-capacity centrifugal chillers launched in June 2022.

Both models use the HFO R1234yf and offer capacities ranging from 300 to 5,400RT.
