Mitsubishi Electric buys French company Aircalo

EUROPE: Mitsubishi Electric has acquired French air conditioning company Aircalo, a manufacturer of HVAC products including air handling units and fan coils.

The acquisition by Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems SpA and Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV, is expected to expand and upgrade its hydronic HVAC systems business and meet a strong demand for made-to-order products.

The Aircalo factory in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles

Founded in 1958, Aircalo is based in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, 15km northwest of Bordeaux. It boasts a €17m turnover with sales extending throughout Europe and North Africa.

The company commands a large share of the local market for FCUs and AHUs. In the case of FCUs, Aircalo not only performs internal customisation of the main unit but also packages peripheral components and control equipment that are typically arranged and installed by on-site contractors.
