Newman named as Chemours CEO

USA: Mark Newman, currently Chemours’ chief operating officer, has been named as the company’s new president and chief executive officer to succeed Mark Vergnano.

Vergnano, who has served as president and CEO since the company’s founding in 2015, is retiring from the company. He will assume the position of non-executive chairman of the company’s board of directors for the remainder of this year. In this role he will succeed current chairman Richard H Brown, who has announced his intention to retire after leading the board of directors for the last six years. 

Mark Newman joined DuPont, as it was known then, in 2014 as senior vice president & chief financial officer, performance chemicals. He was appointed senior vice president & chief operating officer two years ago.

With these changes, Dawn Farrell, who has served on the board of directors since the company’s founding and is a member of the audit committee and compensation committee, will become the company’s lead independent director.
