Nidec to build Embraco compressor factory in India
4th June 2025
BRAZIL: Nidec is to invest $120m factory in a new 55,000m2 factory in India for the manufacture of Embraco residential and commercial refrigeration compressors and electronic components.
The new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), in the state of Maharashtra, will have an annual production capacity of 6 million units.
The expansion is said to underscore the commitment of Embraco’s parent company Nidec to meet the growing demand for refrigeration solutions in India. It is planned to begin operations in the second half of 2026.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to create between 750 and 1,000 direct jobs, strengthening the local workforce and fostering its technological expertise in refrigeration solutions.
“This investment marks a key milestone in our strategy to grow and strengthen our business across international markets,” said Alberto Casnati, president of Nidec Global Appliance.
“India’s refrigeration market is expanding rapidly, in step with the country’s strong economic momentum. This new facility will allow us to better meet local demand with high-efficiency, locally produced solutions for both the household and commercial sectors.”
The new plant will focus on producing Embraco compressor series: fixed-speed models ES and EL and variable-speed models FMS and VLT. The factory will also produce inverters.
