One dead, three injured in ac “explosion”

INDIA: Another “explosion” in an air conditioning compressor has killed a mechanic and injured three others in Dehradun, India, according to local media reports.

This latest incident, which follows a succession of recent incidents involving air conditioners around the world, occurred at a workshop at the government-run Oils and Natural Gas Corporation.

Witnesses reported a loud explosion as the employees were reportedly trying to replace the air conditioning compressor. One worker fell to the ground and died soon after. The other three were reported to be injured, at least one was said to be suffering from serious burns.

The previous explosions in Cambodia, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Spain are still the subject of investigation but informed sources have suggested that in at least two of the incidents the “explosions” were due to procedural errors and another was due to a leaking brazing gas cylinder.
