Refrigerant producers report strong Q1 sales
8th May 2026
USA: Leading refrigerant companies Chemours and Solstice have both reported increased sales and demand in the first quarter for their lower GWP gases.
Chemours announced record first‑quarter sales by its Thermal & Specialised Solutions (TSS) business. Net sales for this division were 22% up on the same quarter last year to $568. This included 12% growth in Opteon Refrigerants and a 35% increase in adjusted EBITDA.

Increased pricing was primarily driven by automotive Freon Refrigerant sales in North America. Volume growth was driven by the continued transition to Opteon™ Refrigerants as well as automotive Freon™ Refrigerant sales in North America.
Solstice, meanwhile, grew 19% year-on-year to $711m, supported by pricing and volume. The company maintains that this was driven in part by the ongoing HFO transition and increasing data centre-related demand.

“Demand in nuclear, electronic materials and refrigerants remains robust, reinforcing our confidence in the secular growth trends driving our business including artificial intelligence, data centres, semiconductor manufacturing and nuclear energy,” commented president and CEO David Sewell.
