Seeking harmony on compressor standards

AHRI-ASERCOMUSA/EUROPE: Two of the leading US and European associations are seeking to harmonise compressor performance ratings and testing standards.

Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding last year, the US Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the European refrigeration component manufacturers group ASERCOM have been meeting regularly on a number of topics over the last 12 months.

In particular they have been looking to develop a common understanding of compressor performance uncertainties and the rating of refrigerants with glide. A working group is said to be drafting a technical white paper on compressor performance measurement uncertainty, inter-lab reproducibility, manufacturing and product variation, and model generation and curve fitting. It is said that the white paper also will explore test versus actual operating conditions.
