Star forms Azane US joint venture

UK/USA: Glasgow-based Star Refrigeration has formed a joint venture with US cold store contractor Controlled Environments Construction to supply its low-charge Azane ammonia refrigeration systems.

The new company, Controlled Azane Refrigeration Inc (CAz Refrigeration), is based at the Controlled Environments Construction (CEC) headquarters in Tustin, Southern California. It aims to become the leading provider of low charge ammonia refrigeration systems, focused on the freezer and temperature convertible North American markets.

“This is an emerging market driven by improved risk management solutions, environmentally superior systems, more cost-efficient offerings, reduced regulatory compliances, and greater flexibility and even portability opportunities,” said Rick Loesel, a refrigerated and frozen food industry veteran and president and CEO of the new company.

Star established US subsidiary Azane Inc in 2014. Based in Chambersburg, PA, Azane Inc manufactures Star’s Azanechiller and Azanefreezer products to US standards and regulations for supply nationwide.

CEC has over past 25 years experience in the cold storage cConstruction industry and for the past four years has been dealing specifically with low charge ammonia refrigeration. This includes the development and implementation of the largest low charge ammonia system in a cold storage warehouse in the United States.
