TCL increases AC production capacity

CHINA: Chinese manufacturer TCL has completed Phase 1 of its new smart manufacturing facility in Wuhan, which will boast an annual capacity of over 6 million air conditioning units.

The TCL Wuhan Intelligent Industrial Park for Air Conditioner is a three-phase project valued at US$497m. Covering 390,000m2, the Park comprises a full AC supply chain – R&D, smart manufacturing and smart logistics – from where TCL’s air conditioners are exported to over 160 markets around the world.

The park is said to be digitally driven to wield the technology of AIoT, big data and machine learning to raise operation efficiency, product quality and lower its costs. The park also harnesses solar power, monitored by energy management system and fed by a smart hydration system to ensure both energy consumption and carbon emission are kept at a sustainable level.

TCL Electronics is a Chinese company headquartered and listed in Hong Kong. The air conditioner business unit was established in 1999, and now produces residential and commercial air conditioners, portables, dehumidifiers and air conditioning compressors.

The company has 10 manufacturing bases across China, Brazil and Indonesia, boasting an overall capacity of more than 30 million units. TCL also has a joint venture with Italian manufacturer Delonghi group to produce portable air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
