Tunisia latest to ratify Kigali

TUNISIA: The Republic of Tunisia has become the latest country to ratify the Kigali Amendment to phase down HFC refrigerants.

The addition of Tunisia brings the number of ratifying countries to 124 including the European Union – 62% of the original 197 countries who adopted the amendment in 2016.

Most non-Article 5 (developed) countries must achieve an 85% by 2036. Article 5 countries are split into two groups and follow a slower timetable starting with a freeze in either 2024 or 2028. The final phase-down steps in A5 countries are in 2045 or 2047.
