Uzbekistan customs stop R22 equipment

UZBEKISTAN: Customs officers in the Uzbekistan capital Tashkent have stopped the importation of process chilling equipment running on banned ozone-depleting refrigerant R22.

In line with the Montreal Protocol, it is prohibited to import refrigeration and air conditioning equipment using ozone-depleting substances into Uzbekistan

The Chinese equipment, described as high-pressure air drying equipment and chiller equipment for the beverage industry and valued at UZS143.5m (approximately €10,600), was being brought in from Kazakhstan.
