Women in Cooling discuss workplace challenges

GERMANY: The International Network for Women in Cooling (INWIC) will be holding a side event at this week’s Chillventa exhibition to explore the challenges facing women in the workplace.
The recently-formed INWIC group is led by the World Refrigeration Day (WRD) secretariat and UNEP OzonAction and is backed a number of major national and international HVACR organisations including ASHRAE and the European contractors group AREA.
The new network seeks to advance the engagement of women, promote career opportunities, and increase their overall participation in the RACHP sector, where they are significantly under-represented. It will also offer an opportunity to individual women, especially from developing countries, to get access to experiences and career development opportunities in the field that would otherwise be inaccessible to them.
The meeting in Nuremberg will see representatives discussing the results of a survey conducted among practitioners and key executives that explored work force challenges confronting the cooling industry and how attracting more women can address the qualified worker shortage.
The INWICC session is free-to-attend and will take place at Chillventa on Thursday, October 13, from 10:00 to 11:00 in NCC Ost, level 1, Room Hongkong.
