Wrong refrigerant blamed for fatal AC blast

INDIA: The wrong refrigerant used in the air conditioning system of an Indian Navy destroyer has been blamed for a “blast” which killed three sailors and injured 11 others.
According to the Hindustan Times, police in Colaba have registered a case against officials of refrigerant supplier Ajay Airproducts for allegedly supplying a wrong refrigerant that resulted in a blast on board INS Ranvir on January 18, 2022.
The Hindustan Times report alleges that the “flammable refrigerant R152” was used instead of R22. Presumably it is referring to R152a, an A2 refrigerant.
