Mostra Convegno postponed again

ITALY: Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE), scheduled to take place in March, has again been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic – this time to the end of June.

The show has now been rescheduled to take place from June 28 to July 1, 2022 at the Fiera Milano.

According to the organiser, the decision to postpone was taken after having “attentively monitored” Italian and international data concerning the pandemic.

Massimiliano Pierini, MD of Reed Exhibitions Italia, said: “In order to offer a full, satisfying and safe experience to all the professionals involved, we decided to reschedule the event at the end of June, when the summer season should allow easier international travels and safer interactions.”

The 2020 show was initially postponed until September 2020 after the onset of the coronavirus, before finally being cancelled. This year’s event was due to to take place from 8 to 11 March at the Fiera Milano.

While there were obvious concerns as to the extent that continuing covid restrictions might impact foreign visitor attendance, it is unclear how the pandemic had affected the size of this year’s show and the number of exhibitors.

The organiser has announced that 90% of space is confirmed for 1400 registered companies. With a reported total of 2,388 exhibitors at the last event in 2018, this would appear to reflect a significant downturn.

However, the the organiser explains: “2,388 exhibitors in 2018 included represented companies and co-exhibitors since it’s the final figure of the show. 1,400 exhibitors for 2022 only counts direct exhibitors, while represented companies and co-exhibitors will be calculated for the edition final figures.”
