Daikin heat pump lives the high life

BELGIUM: Daikin’s has designed its new Altherma 3 WS heat pump specifically for high rise apartment blocks.

Apartment buildings are said to be amongst the most significant contributors to energy consumption and CO2 emissions. With more people across Europe living in urban areas and an increasing number of people occupying flats in those areas, it is a challenge to build apartment buildings that are more environmentally friendly.

The Daikin Altherma 3 WS heat pump is said to operate together with a communal air-source heat pump, the Daikin BlueVolution EWYT-B heat pump series. The manufacturer claims the synergy between these two products allows heat losses in high-rise buildings to be greatly reduced. In addition, the combination minimises overheating risks thanks to the highly efficient thermal distribution at near ambient temperature.

The innovative system consists of a network of heat pumps connected to a common central water loop. In each apartment there is a Daikin Altherma 3 WS unit with an integrated domestic hot water cylinder, providing tailor-made comfort to each apartment.

The Daikin Altherma 3 WS is said to be quiet in operation and requires a footprint of just 597mm x 666mm.
