MHI expands sales of high temp heat pump

JAPAN: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is expanding sales of its high-temperature ETI-W series centrifugal heat pump to overseas markets.

The heat pump, which uses HFO1233zd(E) refrigerant, has been available on the Japanese market since 2025.

With a maximum heating capacity of 640kW, ETI-W is a heat-recovery-type centrifugal heat pump designed to capture low-temperature waste heat from factory production processes to produce hot water up to 90℃.

As in Japan, MHI will focus its overseas sales on process applications in electronics, automotive, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical factories, as well as heating and hot water supply for commercial and accommodation facilities.

MHI Thermal Systems says it will offer optimal thermal solutions according to the specific circumstances for each customer. In facilities equipped with a chiller, it will also be possible to configure systems that use ETI-W to recover the heat retained by the chiller’s cooling water, and reuse it as high-temperature water.

For facilities such as data centres, ETI-W could be used as a heat source to meet demand for heating and hot water supply.

ETI-W is said to have achieved a COP of 4.01 during heating, even when supplying hot water up to 90℃.
