Daikin signals launch of R290 modular heat pump
29th January 2026
UK: Daikin has announced the imminent availability of its EWYK-QZ modular air-to-water R290 heat pump.
First announced at the ISH exhibition last March, Daikin UK has revealed that design selections and quotations will be available from April.
Offering cooling and heating capacities ranging from 100kW in a single module to 2000kW in a multi-module system, the EWYK-QZ is designed for a wide range of applications, including heating, cooling, and domestic hot water
It delivers hot water up to 75°C, meeting the requirements of decarbonisation projects and energy-efficient building designs.
Additional modules can be seamlessly integrated into building expansions to increase heating or cooling capacity. Each module comes in 100kW or 125kW variants, and up to four modules can form a 500kW array. Four arrays (16 modules) can be combined to create a 2000kW system managed by Daikin’s Intelligent Chiller Manager (iCM) control system.
A number of safety features have been incorporated, including two refrigerant leak detectors – one on the refrigerant circuit and another inside the switch box. Also included is an extraction fan to quickly disperse the refrigerant in the event of a leak and a switchbox fan for added safety. In addition, visual and acoustic alarms are also incorporated.
