Lennox launches cold climate heat pump
20th February 2025
USA: US manufacturer Lennox Residential HVAC, has launched its cold climate heat pump, said to offer reliable comfort in temperatures as low as -20°F (-29ºC).
In addition, Lennox claims its new Dave Lennox Signature Collection SL22KLV heat pump provides heat at colder temperatures with efficiency levels 150% higher than standard heat pumps.
Its variable-speed compressor, equipped with electronic refrigerant injection (ERI) technology, dynamically adjusts energy usage based on outdoor temperatures.
These help the SL22KLV to achieve efficiency ratings of up to 21.1 SEER2, 13.2 EER2, and 10.5 HSPF2.
Employing R454B refrigerant, the heat pump also features a precision-balanced, direct-drive fan and sound-dampening system for ultra-quiet operation.
For added convenience, the SL22KLV pairs with the Lennox S40 smart thermostat to create a digital in-home comfort system that automatically adjusts settings to maintain temperatures more accurately and efficiently. Built-in sensors allow the system to optimize performance and assist dealers with routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the unit.
In 2022, Lennox was the first company to complete the first phase of the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Residential Cold Climate Heat Pump (CCHP) Technology Challenge. The SL22KLV is an enhancement of the unit developed for that challenge.
