PHE for large performance requirements

GERMANY: The new Kelvion plate size NP250L is designed for larger performance requirements in applications such as district cooling, high-rise building cold supply or data centre cooling.

Gasketed plate heat exchangers for these applications require peak performance in terms of heat transfer whilst withstanding high system pressure. The new Kelvion plate size NP250L is said to be tailored to meet these requirements, thanks to an extremely narrow plate gap and a smaller pitch.

These attributes are said to ensure highly turbulent flow and in turn, a good heat transfer at very small temperature differences with a single pass approach. This reduces piping costs and simplifies service.

With the new NP250L, the NP plate series now comprises two different sizes with connection diameters up to DN 250. The NP250L covers larger performance requirements with a maximum flowrate greater than 1000m³/h (4600 USGPM).

The OptiWave design is said to enhance this effect by providing a uniform flow across the entire plate width. The new heat exchanger plate is able to achieve higher NTU values than Kelvion’s sister models of the NT and NX series.

The new PHE is available in plate material 1.4301 and 1.4404 (US: AISI304 and AISI316L), as well as in the thicknesses 0.4, 0.5 and 0.6mm. – It is suitable for a test pressure greater than 40bar(g).

The NP250L fits into the same frames as the equally sized Kelvion plates of the NT, NX, NH and LWC series. The new NP series also has advantages in common with these, such as the EcoLoc system for a perfect fit of the glueless gaskets or the PosLoc design, which ensures precise alignment of the plate pack.
