Qvantum extends QE cooling capability

UK: Qvantum has enhanced its QE modular exhaust air heat pump, reducing the system’s lower leaving water temperature range from 18°C to 14°C.

Available in 4kW and 6kW capacities, the QE is designed for new-build and retrofit applications where low-temperature heating, hot water, ventilation and cooling need to be delivered from a compact system.

Qvantum says that by reducing the lower leaving water temperature to 14°C, the system gives developers and designers greater flexibility when developing strategies to reduce overheating risk under Building Regulation Part O.

“Extending the cooling capability of the QE is an important step in the development of the range, said Qvantum UK CEO Phil Ord. “The Climate Change Committee has highlighted the growing role of cooling in homes as part of the UK’s adaptation response, and reducing the lower leaving water temperature to 14°C gives developers and designers greater flexibility when applying the system in apartments and other space-conscious homes.”

The QE combines an exhaust air heat pump and thermal battery within a single pre-plumbed module. Its 600mm x 620mm footprint allows it to be installed within a larder-style cupboard, helping to save space within the home.

The integrated thermal battery allows heat energy to be stored and used when needed, supporting time-of-use operation and helping to reduce demand on the electricity grid during peak periods.
