Samsung Wind Free air conditioner adopts AI technology

NETHERLANDS: Samsung has launched new wall-mounted Wind-Free air conditioners using R32 refrigerant and incorporating AI smart technology.

First announced and showcased in November at Interclima 2019 in Paris, the all-new range is available in five different executions of which three versions feature Samsung’s Wind-Free Cooling technology, complemented by new intelligent technologies for enhanced indoor comfort and improved energy efficiency.

“With its enhanced Wind-Free technology and new powerful Digital Inverter Boost, the new 2020 air conditioner range offers consumers a pleasant indoor climate experience while enhancing energy efficiency,” said Xavier Feys, vice president pre-sales, business development, customer service and product management at Samsung Electronics Air Conditioner Europe BV (SEACE).

Samsung introduced its Wind-Free technology in Europe in 2017. These units are designed to disperse fresh air gently, evenly and without draughts through thousands of micro-holes.

Three cooling modes are used in three steps: the first step quickly lowers the temperature, the second uses a dehumidifying feature to set the optimal level of humidity and the third mode maintains the desired conditions.

Smart operation

The new AI Auto Comfort feature is designed to allow consumers to use their air conditioner more efficiently by analysing room conditions, user-preferred temperatures and cooling modes, and even the outdoor climate to automatically switch to the most appropriate setting.

The units can be controlled and monitored remotely by using the Samsung SmartThings App, letting users turn their air conditioner on or off, select preferred cooling modes, schedule operations, and even monitor power consumption. Using Samsung’s Bixby voice control, the unit can also be told what the user wants via the smartphone.

These new generation Wind-Free wall-mounted air conditioners also employ Samsung’s new energy-efficient Digital Inverter Boost compressor, allowing consumers to maintain their desired temperature while reducing energy consumption.

It has a built-in Motion Detect Sensor (MDS) that tracks user movements and can detect when there are no users in the room, automatically changing the air conditioner settings to slightly increase the temperature or turn on the standby mode.

Available as single split or multi split units, the models are available in capacities from 2kW to 6.8kW. The top of the range Wind-Free Elite unit comes with an A+++ energy label for both SEER and SCOP.
