UK: Having played host to labour leader Ed Miliband last July, Leeds-based ac manufacturer Airedale recently paid a visit to 11 Downing Street.

Airedale’s managing director, Clive Parkman and technical director, George Hannah, joined other representatives from the Yorkshire region at an event hosted by the chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne.

The purpose of the evening was to listen to the views and opinions of, and allow a forum for discussion between, some of the leading manufacturing and commercial organisations in the region following on from the launch of the Chancellor’s Power House of the North initiative.

Also in attendance were Airedale’s local MP Stuart Andrew, as well as local representatives from other industries including aerospace and engineering in addition to members of the region’s trade and commerce bodies.

In his speech on the evening the Chancellor stressed how important the North of England is to the UK’s economy and that by better connecting the cities of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield they would be able to compete more effectively with London.

Clive Parkman stated: “As one of the largest engineering businesses in the Yorkshire area we welcome every opportunity to represent Airedale and other regional enterprises at a national level. The opportunity to have a voice at such a high level is very welcome.

“Airedale has ambitious growth plans both within the UK and internationally. Investment in infrastructure will play an important role in supporting our plans.”
