14th September 2025
UK: Matt Morton, chairman of Durham-based EJM Engineered Systems, has received the Institute of Refrigeration’s Northern Branch Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to the industry.
The award was announced and presented by IOR chief executive Miriam Rodway at Thursday night’s successfully resurrected Northern Refrigeration dinner in Newcastle.
Morton began his career at North Eastern Refrigeration in 1963, progressing from sales and applications engineer to technical director. With others, he formed EJM Engineered Systems in 1980 and was chair for the IOR Northern Branch for over 20 years.
The return of the Northern dinner, the first since covid interrupted the annual event in 2020, was supported by around 180 guests at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead hotel.
Taking over from Matt Morton as chair, Neil Henry of Option3 Logic paid tribute to his predecessor’s for his “wise words and steady guidance”.
“Your leadership has left a lasting legacy, and I’m grateful to be building on such a solid foundation,” he said.
