$18m boost for Mitsubishi’s Turkish factory

JAPAN: Mitsubishi Electric is to invest US$18m to commence heat pump production and boost air conditioner output at its factory in Turkey.

The 40,000m2 facility, which currently produces around 500,000 room air conditioners (indoor and outdoor) annually, is to start production of air-to-water heat pumps in August 2022. The investment is projected to achieve a combined annual production for the two product types of one million units.  Increased output of room air conditioners will start this October.

The facility in Manisa, just inland from the Aegean Sea port of Izmir, started production at the end of 2017. It supplies both the Turkish market and the wider European market.
