Air conditioned bench under trial

JAPAN: Daikin is one of the companies behind the trial of an air conditioned bench for urban outdoor public spaces.
The trial conducted by Daikin in collaboration with a Japanese co-working company Point 0 Inc, construction company Kajima Corporation, and design and spatial planning firm Iria Co Ltd will seek to verify the business feasibility of air conditioned benches.
The bench, which is said to reduce the perceived temperature by 5°C compared to normal conditions, will be installed at the Marunouchi Street Park 2026 Summer, an urban revitalisation event running from July 24 to August 23 in Tokyo.
Daikin, together with the other participating companies, have been developing products and services that contribute to “enhancing the value of all spaces in which people spend time”.
