Octopus develops a heat pump cooler add-on
18th October 2026
UK: Energy and heat pump supplier Octopus Energy is developing an add-on cooler for its existing Cosy heat pumps.
Set for launch in 2027, the British-engineered cooling add-on is designed to connect to existing heat pump system pipework for a fraction of the price of separate air-conditioner. Octopus maintains that it will retail at around £500-£600 and could be installed in around three hours, without major building work.
The Cosy Cooler will take the heat out of the air and putting it through a heat exchanger connected to the radiator loop, which is kept at a constant 18ºC. The heat it removes is transferred through the heating pipework and is rejected by the outdoor Cosy heat pump.
The unit can cool single rooms or run up to two to three units at once across different rooms, depending on the Cosy heat pump model.
Based on the current prototype, the Octopus Cooler will measure 722mm high, 430mm wide and 358mm deep, weighing around 28kg.
