Carel to expand Croatian plant

ITALY/CROATIA: Italian refrigeration controls and humidifier manufacturer Carel is to expand its production facility in Croatia with an additional 5,200m2 plant.

The new facility will expand the existing 7,000m2 Carel Adriatic plant, opened in 2016, in Labin on the south-eastern Istrian coast. The new plant will be mainly focused on the production of humidifiers and electrical panels and will also include a showroom. It is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year.

Carel says the new plant responds to the need to provide greater flexibility and resilience to the group’s production capacity, making it better able to support its rapid growth in Europe, particularly in eastern Europe.

In addition to the Croatian plant and its facilities in Italy, Carel also operates factories in Brazil, China and the USA.

When the plant is fully operational, Carel expects to hire up to 100 new employees, in addition to the more than 200 who already work at the Labin site.

“The initiative we have presented fits perfectly into our industrial strategy and our established international network, comprising nine factories and over 27 commercial subsidiaries worldwide,” commented Carel Group CEO Francesco Nalini. “The Group’s solid response to the pandemic has been fully reflected in the positive financial results achieved in 2020, giving us the confidence to continue the development process that has always been a distinctive feature of Carel.”
