Daikin introduces AHT cabinets in Japan

JAPAN: Daikin is to introduce plug-in freezer cases developed by European manufacturer, AHT, to the Japanese market.

The move follows Daikin’s €579m acquisition of the Austrian retail refrigeration equipment manufacturer in 2018.

The range of low-temperature equipment, running on R290 refrigerant, incorporate sliding glass doors and inverter compressors. The range will be sold under the Daikin brand.

Strengthening its low-temperature equipment offering for stores was one of Daikin’s priority strategies in its recently announced Fusion 25 five-year strategic management plan.

“We are working to expand our business globally, starting from Europe, where we have built a business foundation through the acquisition of AHT (Austria 2018) and Zanotti (Italy 2016),” Daikin explained.  

“In Europe, our air conditioners and low temperature equipment are already used as a set in major supermarket chains. With the new lineup of frozen plug-in showcases in Japan as well, it will be possible to provide added value to the entire cold chain from production areas to consumption areas. Through the development of such a global cold chain business, we aim to solve social issues such as “food safety and security,” “reduction of food loss,” and “carbon neutrality of the entire cold chain.”
