Daikin to explore AC and PV control

JAPAN: Daikin is partnering with Japanese utility company Kansai Electric Power Co to test an energy management system utilising an air conditioning control system and solar power generation.

The tests at Daikin’s Sakai Seisakusho factory aim to promote the introduction of renewable energy and achieve energy saving and cost reduction by combining Daikin’s centralised management controller with Kansai Electric Power’s air conditioning control system and solar power generation equipment.

Daikin argues that, while photovoltaic power generation is seen as an important low-carbon domestic energy, the output of photovoltaic power generation fluctuates greatly depending on the weather. In order to promote the conversion of photovoltaic power generation to the main power source, it is necessary to flexibly change the operating conditions of equipment on the demand side according to fluctuations in output and build a system that can adjust the supply and demand of electricity.

The aim of the test is to establish technology that optimally controls air conditioners with a high power consumption ratio according to fluctuations in the output of photovoltaic power generation. This is an initiative aimed at reducing contract power while maintaining a comfortable working environment and stable operation of equipment .
