Grants of up to JPY500m for using “natural” refrigerants

JAPAN: Companies in Japan are being offered subsidies of up to JPY500m (US$4m) for the installation of energy-saving refrigeration equipment using “natural” refrigerants.
The financial assistance will be used for the introduction of display cases and other energy-saving “natural” refrigerant equipment in freezing and refrigerating warehouses, food manufacturing factories, and food retailers. It is being offered by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment and the independent consultancy Japan Refrigerant and Environmental Conservation Organisation in an effort to curb CO2 and F-gas emissions.
