Heat Pump Keymark celebrates 10 years

BELGIUM: The Keymark heat pump certification scheme celebrates its 10th anniversary this year by now providing product performance of more than 11,000 models.

Designed to provide consumers, manufacturers, installers, and policymakers with a clear, reliable benchmark of product performance and quality, the Heat Pump Keymark scheme counts nearly 2,800 active certificates, representing more than 11,000 certified models from over 180 certificate holders across Europe and beyond.

The scheme, first introduced in March 2016, is described as a voluntary, independent, third-party certification mark based on the European standards 14825 and 14511 and owned by CEN/CENELEC. It verifies the performance, efficiency, and quality of heat pumps, ensuring market transparency and supporting the EU’s energy and climate objectives. The secretariat of the scheme is coordinated by the European Heat Pump Association.

“Ten years ago, the scheme was created to make it easier for manufacturers to demonstrate quality and for consumers to trust what they buy. Today, the Heat Pump Keymark is not only a success story, it’s the symbol of Europe’s commitment to reliable, efficient, and future-proof heating solutions,” said Leopoldo Micò, head of innovation and certification at the EHPA.

“The Heat Pump Keymark has proven that a single, harmonised certification approach can strengthen trust and streamline market access throughout Europe,” added Johannes Brugmann, chair of the Heat Pump Keymark scheme group. “Behind every certificate lies a collective commitment to quality, from manufacturers to testing laboratories, certification bodies, and industry experts.”
