Munters wins $82m US data centre order

USA: Swedish air treatment and climate solutions company Munters has received an US$82m chiller order for a data centre colocation provider in the USA.

The order for the company’s Geoclima Circlemiser chillers includes service and commissioning. They will be deployed at a large AI facility for a hyperscale tenant, with deliveries starting mid-2026. The company has not revealed how many chillers are included in the order or what refrigerant has been selected.

Munters acquired the pioneering Italian chiller manufacturer Geoclima last year with the key intention to expand into the data centre cooling market.

“Just over a year after acquiring Geoclima, we’re proud to win this order from a new customer for a demanding application,” said Munters’ data centre technologies president and group vice president Stefan Aspman.

“We continue to see strong traction for this product with US-based customers. Initially sourcing chillers from Europe has resulted in short-term tariff impacts, which we anticipate will continue until chiller production becomes fully operational in the US.”

Munters is currently expanding its data centre technologies factory in Daleville, Virginia, to 52,000m².

“Chiller production for the US will be operational by the end of the first quarter 2026 and we will deliver these systems directly from our new factory in Virginia,” Aspman added.
