Sharp plans air conditioning factory in Indonesia

INDONESIA: Japanese air conditioning manufacturer Sharp is to build a new JPY4bn ($35m) air conditioner factory in Indonesia.

The new factory will be based in Karawang Industrial Park, Karawang Regency, where PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, a production and sales company in Jakarta, is located. With a production capacity of 900,000 units/year, the factory is scheduled to start operations in April 2023 supplying Indonesia and other ASEAN countries.

A solar power generation system with a capacity of about 2MW will be installed on the roof of the factory.
