Systemair to close Dutch factory

NETHERLANDS: Swedish manufacturer Systemair plans to discontinue production at the factory of its Dutch subsidiary Systemair Production BV in Waalwijk.

Established as air handling unit manufacturer Holland Heating in 1955, the Dutch company and its 25,000m² manufacturing facility was acquired by Systemair from Carrier in 2013. 

Systemair says that it intends to gradually phase out production in Waalwijk and supply the Dutch market from other manufacturing units within Systemair Group in Europe.

Approximately 70 employees at the production facility are affected. Subject to the outcome of an employee consultation process, the closure is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2027.

The decision is said to form part of the group’s continuous review of its production footprint and is intended to improve efficiency, increase capacity utilisation and enhance profitability across its European operations.

Systemair CEO Robert Larsson described the closure as “an important step towards creating a more efficient production structure and strengthening our long-term competitiveness”. 

The company says it will continue to have a strong presence and customer service in the Netherlands with an operation including sales, service, logistics, technical support and product development activities.
