US AC shipments plummet in November

USA: US shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps fell again in November, with the year-to-date total now nearly 20% down on the same period in 2024.

According to the latest figures from the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), shipments in November plummeted 46.4% compared to November 2024, totalling 379,470 units. Of these, air conditioner shipments were 53.7% down at 181,223 units, while air-source heat pumps decreased 37.2% to 198,247 units.

Year-to-date total shipments are 7,341,285, 19.9% down on the same period in 2024. By product type, year-to-date shipments of central air conditioners total 3,916,218 units, down 25.6%, while heat pump shipments for the year are down 12.1% at 3,897,014.

The figures are based on figures from AHRI’s 300+ company members, which, it says, account for more than 90% of the residential and commercial air conditioning, space heating, water heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment manufactured and sold in North America.
