Tewis to supply refrigeration to largest DIA warehouse

SPAIN: Valencia-based Tewis Smart Systems is to supply the refrigeration for a new €50m, 68,000m2 distribution warehouse for Spanish supermarket group DIA.
Covering a total area of 127,000m2, the new facility will be built this summer at the Green Logistics Park, Spain’s first eco-industrial park, in Illescas, Toledo.
The facility has been described as one of the most ambitious industrial refrigeration projects in Spain. In addition to being DIA’s largest distribution centre in Spain, Tewis’ 3,000kW cold room installation will also be one of the largest. Occupying 21,000m2 of the warehouse, the refrigeration will use only “natural” refrigerants.
The warehouse will be constructed to strict environmental standards and the installation of solar panels will ensure it is energy self-sufficient.
The Friex Group, based in Don Benito, Badajoz, will install and maintain the system.
The new centre is expected to open in 2022 and will supply around 500 shops located in Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León.
