ABB extends compact VFD options

FINLAND: ABB Drives has expanded its ACH580-01 HVACR-specific VFD portfolio with the launch of 315kW and 355kW variants.

Claimed to be the most compact wall-mounted VFDs in their class, the new drives are available in IP21 and IP55 options.

They can be skid-mounted directly to cooling compressors or installed within cabinets, including under-unit horizontal mounting, enabling flexible integration into compressor and chiller structures.

Featuring a dedicated cooling compressor feature set, the ACH580-01 optimises compressor performance while supporting offline configuration, allowing commissioning without requiring the physical drive.

The patented tilting cabling box provides fast access to internal components, simplifying installation and maintenance.

Engineered for harsh conditions, these drives operate at ambient temperatures of up to 55°C (40°C without derating) and meet environmental ratings of C3 (IP21) and C4 (IP55).

A2L and A3 refrigeration conformity documents are included to support compliance with modern refrigerants.

In addition to cooling and refrigeration, these drives are also said to be ideal for heat pump applications.

The ACH580-01 contain both standard refrigerant tables and the use of Antoine coefficients for custom refrigerants, making integration and redundancy easy for new and existing systems.
