Airedale adds propane to MultiChill range

UK: Airedale by Modine has added a propane air-source heat pump to its MultiChill range.

MultiChill Propane is available in seven unit sizes, with a cooling capacity of 35kW to 73kW and heating capacity of 40kW to 86kW. It is optimised for natural refrigerant R290, delivering a SEER up to 5.36, EER 2.86 and SCOP W55 3.63.

Delivering hot water at temperatures of up to 75°C, and with the ability to manage double setpoints in heating and cooling operation, MultiChill Propane is said to be suitable for comfort, industrial and domestic hot water applications. It has three sound configurations for noise-sensitive applications, offering both application flexibility and energy saving capabilities.

For safety, all models are fitted with leak detectors and have a double division between control section and refrigerant circuit compartment. They also include an air purge system to allow for ventilation and refrigerant extraction.

Airedale by Modine commercial director Simon Scott described the new unit as “a groundbreaking addition” to the company’s range of commercial and industrial heat pump chillers. “Critical to industry, propane delivers a high efficiency solution. Like most things, as long as safety protocols are followed, it is safe to use,” he said.

Developed with modularity in mind, the system can be configured with up to 16 units in a local network to deliver a total capacity of 1168kW cooling and 1376kW heating.

Combined with the integrated system tank, optimised airflow for minimum clearance and its compact size, MultiChill Propane is described as a space saving solution, perfect for legacy sites seeking a sustainable upgrade.

MultiChill Propane is a result of an OEM agreement signed with Midea-owned Italian chiller manufacturer Clivet.
