High capacity Turbocor chiller for data centres
20th September 2025
UK: Airedale by Modine has announced the 2MW TurboChill DCS, the next generation in their range of Turbocor compressor chillers.
Said to be redesigned from the ground up, it is manufactured to meet the specific operational demands of colocation and hyperscale data centres.
TurboChill DCS is optimised for higher ambient temperatures of up to 55°C/131°F, with low GWP refrigerant R1234ze.
The Turbocor oil-free centrifugal compressor’s high efficiency across full and part load, and the modular V-frame coil arrangement has been further optimised with the application of Airedale’s enhanced free cooling technology, using larger diameter fans.
An improved water system delivers increased opportunity for free cooling, with the on-board variable speed pump enabling variable primary flow rate control, reducing energy consumption.
The enclosed glycol loop separates the glycol from the indoor systems, offering protection from freezing weather conditions whilst ensuring the continued performance of indoor units. Featuring an ultra-low-lift operation, for when waterside free cooling isn’t the right option, the compressors are said to ensure low power consumption in decreasing ambient temperatures. Sound levels have also been lowered.
TurboChill DCS also comes with the latest helix intelligent controls platform inbuilt and can be integrated into BMS and intelligent optimisation cooling systems.
The chiller will be manufactured in the UK and the US for global distribution.
