Carrier centralises UK operations

Richard Jones:
Richard Jones: offering a total hvac solution

UK: Following the announcement of changes to the structure of its business by parent UTC last year, Carrier has now centralised its UK operations.

Richard Jones, the new managing director of the merged Carrier UK operations, takes  responsibility for Carrier hvac equipment sales and service, Carrier Controls, Carrier Rental Systems, and Toshiba Air Conditioning.

Richard has been with United Technologies for over 20 years, having been with the Chubb organisation for several years before moving to Carrier in 2004. Prior to his current role Richard had responsibility for Carrier’s highly successful rental (hvac and pumps) European and UK operations.

In September last year United Technologies announced the creation of a new division – UTC Building & Industrial Systems. This brought together its Climate, Controls & Security division, which included its Carrier heating and air conditioning company, Otis elevators, with its fire and security brands Kidde and Chubb under president and ceo Geraud Darnis.

The European arm of UTC Building and Industrial Systems is now under the direction of  regional president Lindsay Harvey, formerly ceo of Otis.

Expressing a desire to offer customers a total hvac solution, Richard Jones said: “I believe Carrier working in synergy with our colleagues in Otis and Chubb, for the first time in a long while, will enable us to share important technologies that will result in significant developments across our whole UK building and industrial systems business.”

He also promised a number of new products this year that will help developers looking to future-proof their buildings.

“Very importantly, effective electronic management of technology within buildings will be an essential part of a new comprehensive service offering that only market-leading businesses like Carrier and its sister companies of Otis and Chubb are in a position to deliver.”
