Compressor expert is Academy Fellow

UK: An expert in positive displacement compressor technology has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Ian Smith, professor of applied thermodynamics and director of the centre for positive displacement compressor technology in the department of mechanical engineering at City, University of London, was one of 49 outstanding UK engineers recently announced as new Fellows of the Academy.
Professor Smith is renowned for his pioneering research into power recovery from low-grade heat sources, involving compressible flow effects, alternative working fluids to steam, and novel two-phase compression and expansion cycles.
